Although this season has ended, there have been many memories and highlights that will hold us through until next summer. We thought we could share some of the best parts of the last month with you:
"What has been the best or most memorable part of this excavation?"
WANDER: Everything! This has been a whole new experience for me, so every part has been great
ERIK: The people. It's a great bunch of people. As far as the wreck, there are lots of interesting things to document. There are parts of the ship that I have never seen before, so that's cool. Drawing has also been fun
NICOLE: The best part was when we had a full crew BBQ! But drawing with Erik has been a lot of fun too
ROBERT: It's been a good group of people to work with. Puzzling together all the parts of the wreck has been most interesting, And Peter's BBQ skills at the campsite were awesome
JOELLA: The best was drawing inside the tent when it was raining!
MORVENNA: I always liked to catch people in the crosshairs of the total station
GERRIT: Digging. The whole process of uncovering the ship, how you get to see more and more of it every day. And how the ideas and theories about the wreck and the parts, how those would change everyday.
KOEN: The ship is the ebst part! The construction has been really interesting to try and figure out
PETER: The camaraderie on and off the site and campsite
DORIEN: I liked how I got the chance to do many different tasks on this excavation
MARISKA: Late night discussions with Peter about life, the universe and everything.
SARAH: The people have been really wonderful! But my favorite part of the work was watching how a jumble of rotten wood became a ship
